Quit It: Don’t waste your oil

In the book of 1 Samuel in Chapter 16, God sent the Prophet Samuel to the house of Jesse the Bethlehemite, to anoint a new king for Israel. Jesse presented all his sons, one after the other but you will notice that Samuel preserved the oil until He got to the right person. Even though he missed it several times, he never poured the oil, until the right one, (the one God had chosen, the man after God’s heart),  stood before him. As he stood in the house of Jesse, the word God spoke to him kept ringing in his heart “…and thou shalt anoint unto me,him whom I name unto thee”

Don’t waste your oil on things that  God did not send you to anoint. You have a purpose and you have a call, you were not created to do everything, but for a specific thing,to be at a particular place at a particular time.
Don’t waste your life touching dead  things. Don’t waste your oil in a relationship that  is not of God and that  is taking you no where. Don’t waste your oil on friends that distract you from the plan and purpose of God for your life. Don’t waste your oil in a career or a work place God did not send you to.

We are young, but that does not mean we have the luxury for trial and error. God forbid. We have Spirit of God to guide us. Irrespective of the mistakes we make, life goes on, opportunities still come, lives are lost, souls perish, the Kingdom of God must expand, so where is the time to waste on dead things? Rather we should spend time on the exact things that God has in His heart for us. God will not anoint you to do what He did not send you to do.

You will never find true satisfaction until you do what God wants you to do, go where God wants you to go. It might not add up immediately, but let us not be a generation of young people interested in having crowns without crosses. Stay through to the cause,no matter what!
I guess all I’m trying to say is this: don’t waste your youth, don’t waste your oil and don’t waste your life.

Read our posts on vision, purpose and passion, I believe it will guide you and help you preserve that oil.

They Walked This Road Before: Calling and Purpose

As part of our vision, Calling and purpose series, it is ideal that we hear from some of our heroes of faith, people already walking in the will of God for their lives. Let’s draw strength and knowledge from their thoughts on purpose and calling. God bless you as you read.

God takes highly unlikely people, takes them into unlikely places gives them highly unlikely strategies and gives them a highly unlikely outcome.

If you operate out of fear, you’ll say no, when God says go.

Sometimes life is about risking everything for a dream only you can see.

God uses rescued people to rescue people.

Life is too short, the world is too big and God’s love is too great to live ordinary.

Allow God to continually soften your heart so that it beats for what His heart beats for-(people!)

Just as God gave Moses exactly what he needed to accomplish great things, He will equip us in the same way. If He calls us to slay giants, He will make us into giant slayers.

Nothing about my birth or yours was random or accidental. I was born for this time and so were you. We were each chosen for a particular, cosmically important task that can be done by no one else.

Often the very things that you think has disqualified you are the ones that qualify you to do what God wants you to do.

When God has assigned you, He knows when and where to find you.

The biblical model is that God deliberately chooses imperfect vessels, those who have been wounded, and those with physical or emotional limitations. Then He prepares them to serve and sends them out with their weakness still evident, so that His strength can be made perfect in their weakness.

Be called, don’t call yourself. And your calling must be well defined.
You are called from one level to another. It’s an ever growing experience.
Jeremiah 29:11, your future is in God’s plan, not your plan. God will never sponsor your own plan. Be spiritual and sensitive enough to know what you are doing.
You will be assessed only on what you are sent.
Mind your calling and stay with it. You are unique.
If there is anything you have added to your calling, offload it. Ministry must be well defined before you can make a fool proof of it.

A blessed life is one that understands that when God saves you, He has others in mind. I believe every Christian needs to know that they are not only saved, but are called to live a life of purpose.

If our worship is just great youth meetings, nice songs, lots of jumping around and a few CDs, then we are missing it. Our vertical expression must have a horizontal effect. So we’ll continue to worship, praise and honor God with heart, soul and mind and strength the best we know how, but the fruit of that must be a generation who are totally committed to reaching the lost and helping those who need help, locally and globally.

I don’t believe God’s called me to survive the world, but to change it for His glory.

Be governed by your calling not your circumstance.

You can’t fulfill your calling in your comfort zone.

God will arrange every experience in your life to serve His purpose.

You have a personal birthright to believe in a God given mission for your life.

Before you were born, before any parts of your defects were apparent to you, they were absolutely apparent to God. That didn’t stop Him from calling your name and setting you apart. He placed you on the earth at a certain time for a pre-decided purpose.

Seize God’s vision. Activate your faith. Make your move.

Craig Groeschel, Pastor of Life Church.

God is not calling us to go to church; He is calling us to be His church, the hope of the world.

The thing that makes us sad, the things that make us righteously angry or the things we care about that others don’t are often a key that unlocks our reason for living. It’s our burden.

Your life is too valuable, your call too great and your God too awesome to waste your life on what doesn’t matter.

We will do anything short of sin to reach people for Christ.

Keith Moore, Pastor of Faith Life Church, Branson.

You do not want to wake up after your life here on earth to realize that you spent your time doing things that are not in alignment with your calling and purpose.
Life is short, don’t waste your whole life not doing the will of God

Vision Series: By Pastor Nathaniel Bassey

Sermon given by my Pastor on the 15th of May, 2016. He preached about passion, I felt like crying after the service. God has placed so much in my heart, but it seems my zeal (passion) to pursue is zero. I think every young person need this message to propel you into action. God bless you and bless you and bless you as you read.

From hereon, its my Pastor.

Another word for passion is zeal. It is a strong feeling of enthusiasm, excitement for doing something. God is a God of zeal and passion. Isaiah 9:7 “……………..the passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!”

Passion is a natural consequence of vision. People of vision are inevitably people of passion. Vision is a spiritual and mental picture of your future. You can see with your spirit, you process and develop with your mind.

Vision is seeing from God’s perspective, it is not the same as ambition. Vision is God given, ambition is self given and driven, what you desire. It takes the place of prayer, worship and meditation to see from God’s perspective. <Habakuk 2: 1-3>
image

Vision is seeing what God wants you to see. You’ll get as far as you can see. Genesis 13: 14&15 “ After Lot had gone, the Lord said to Abraham, look as far as you can see in every direction, north and south, east and west. I am giving all this land,as far as you can see to you and your descendants as a permanent possession…”

You won’t see clearly until you begin to see how God sees you. Spiritually, what you see is what you become. You are transformed into what you constantly gaze upon.

Provision always comes after vision<that’s why it is pro-vision>, align yourself with God and be a man of vision. Resources will follow. Don’t discard that God given idea.

Vision is essentially God’s thought and because of that, it produces power, and that power(force) that comes with it, is known as passion. Passion is the fuel, driver. It propels vision. Passionate people are performers, when people don’t do things out of passion, they become mediocre, i.e they perform mediocre work.

Passion begins the process of actualizing vision. Passion sustains vision. Passion produces endurance and perseverance. Your duty is to ensure that is a God given vision, not a self driven ambition.

Passion produces excellence, because when you are committed to something, you would spend time applying yourself.

Passion is important.Take note, any idea that has blessed humanity, God looked for a believer first to give it to, if he does not find a ready believer,  He then looks for anyone who is passionate about it. People of passion stand out.

Where there is no vision,, confusion sets in. You begin to want to do this and that. No restraint. Proverbs 29:18<NIV>
I pray that God gives us the passion to do His will, all that He has placed in our hearts, the vision He has entrusted us with.
Till our next bog post on vision, apply passion to your vision and see God do the supernatural through you.
