They Walked This Road Before: Calling and Purpose

As part of our vision, Calling and purpose series, it is ideal that we hear from some of our heroes of faith, people already walking in the will of God for their lives. Let’s draw strength and knowledge from their thoughts on purpose and calling. God bless you as you read.

God takes highly unlikely people, takes them into unlikely places gives them highly unlikely strategies and gives them a highly unlikely outcome.

If you operate out of fear, you’ll say no, when God says go.

Sometimes life is about risking everything for a dream only you can see.

God uses rescued people to rescue people.

Life is too short, the world is too big and God’s love is too great to live ordinary.

Allow God to continually soften your heart so that it beats for what His heart beats for-(people!)

Just as God gave Moses exactly what he needed to accomplish great things, He will equip us in the same way. If He calls us to slay giants, He will make us into giant slayers.

Nothing about my birth or yours was random or accidental. I was born for this time and so were you. We were each chosen for a particular, cosmically important task that can be done by no one else.

Often the very things that you think has disqualified you are the ones that qualify you to do what God wants you to do.

When God has assigned you, He knows when and where to find you.

The biblical model is that God deliberately chooses imperfect vessels, those who have been wounded, and those with physical or emotional limitations. Then He prepares them to serve and sends them out with their weakness still evident, so that His strength can be made perfect in their weakness.

Be called, don’t call yourself. And your calling must be well defined.
You are called from one level to another. It’s an ever growing experience.
Jeremiah 29:11, your future is in God’s plan, not your plan. God will never sponsor your own plan. Be spiritual and sensitive enough to know what you are doing.
You will be assessed only on what you are sent.
Mind your calling and stay with it. You are unique.
If there is anything you have added to your calling, offload it. Ministry must be well defined before you can make a fool proof of it.

A blessed life is one that understands that when God saves you, He has others in mind. I believe every Christian needs to know that they are not only saved, but are called to live a life of purpose.

If our worship is just great youth meetings, nice songs, lots of jumping around and a few CDs, then we are missing it. Our vertical expression must have a horizontal effect. So we’ll continue to worship, praise and honor God with heart, soul and mind and strength the best we know how, but the fruit of that must be a generation who are totally committed to reaching the lost and helping those who need help, locally and globally.

Steven Furtick, Pastor of Elevation Church.

I don’t believe God’s called me to survive the world, but to change it for His glory.

Be governed by your calling not your circumstance.

You can’t fulfill your calling in your comfort zone.

God will arrange every experience in your life to serve His purpose.

You have a personal birthright to believe in a God given mission for your life.

Before you were born, before any parts of your defects were apparent to you, they were absolutely apparent to God. That didn’t stop Him from calling your name and setting you apart. He placed you on the earth at a certain time for a pre-decided purpose.

Seize God’s vision. Activate your faith. Make your move.

Craig Groeschel, Pastor of Life Church.

God is not calling us to go to church; He is calling us to be His church, the hope of the world.

The thing that makes us sad, the things that make us righteously angry or the things we care about that others don’t are often a key that unlocks our reason for living. It’s our burden.

Your life is too valuable, your call too great and your God too awesome to waste your life on what doesn’t matter.

We will do anything short of sin to reach people for Christ.

Keith Moore, Pastor of Faith Life Church, Branson.

You do not want to wake up after your life here on earth to realize that you spent your time doing things that are not in alignment with your calling and purpose.
Life is short, don’t waste your whole life not doing the will of God

You only discover your purpose, when you get to know God.
You won’t see clearly until you begin to see how God sees you.

Till our next blog post on the vision series, find out what God is doing in your generation and get plugged in by staying true to your call.

We are young and we love God,everyday and every time!
